Horticulutre

Horticulture is defined as raising and cultivating a garden. Agriculture refers to the practice of farming the land, but the definition also includes horticulture. Generally it's thought of as the difference in gardening a plot with several varieties of plants to eat, versus working a much larger piece of land with only one or two crops to sell. Horticulture, literally garden culture, is a part of crop agriculture that also includes agronomy and forestry. By tradition, horticulture deals with garden crops such as fruits, nuts, vegetables, culinary herbs and spices, beverage crops, and medicinals, as well as ornamental plants.

A horticulturist studies the concepts of plant physiology, plant biochemistry, genetic engineering, crop production, plant propagation, plant breeding, and cultivation. The field of expertise of the above topics includes turf, shrubs, flowers, trees, vegetables, fruits, berries and nuts.

A horticulturist increases crop production by improving the resistance power of the crops against the different natural elements, diseases and harmful insects. Improved agricultural products increases the market value of crops. The study of horticulture directly affects the economy of agricultural country.
